3DMark 05 is a performance benchmarking application for your CPU’s 3D graphics performance. It focuses on the performance of the Direct X9 compatible 3D hardware and gives out a sophisticated result including, a comparison of your PC with the fastest PCs in the world, an estimate on the betterment of performance of your PC and next generation real time 3D graphics insight.

The previous versions of 3DMark were launched with the introduction of a new Microsoft DirectX version and with the introduction of a new hardware generation. Even though, the exclusivity of 3DMark05 towards Direct X9 hardware has somewhere or the other acted as a limitation, the 3DMark program still stands as the worldwide standard in advanced 3D graphics performance benchmarking.
